On June 18th, Ambassador Zheng Zeguang had an online meeting with Stephen Perry, Chairman of the 48 Group Club.
Ambassador Zheng said that over the past 100 years since its founding, the Communist Party of China has led the Chinese people through long-time and strenuous struggles to win national independence and liberation, establish New China, and create the miracles of fast economic growth and sustained social stability rarely seen in the world. In tackling the outbreak of Covid-19, the Chinese government has put people front and centre and focused on saving lives. China was the first to place the epidemic under control and bring economic activities back on track, and has maintained steady economic growth.
The Ambassador hailed Stephen Perry as an old friend of the Chinese people, and said that the 48 Group Club under his leadership has carried forward the spirit of the “icebreakers” represented by Jack Perry and made important contribution to enhancing mutual understanding and friendly exchanges between the Chinese and British peoples. Ambassador Zheng stated that there is enormous potential for China-UK cooperation in areas of economy, trade, financial services, education and culture, and China will work with the 48 Group Club and British friends in all sectors for new progress in the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
Stephen Perry extended his congratulations on the centenary of the founding of the CPC and the amazing historic achievements of the Chinese people in the past 100 years. He also congratulated Ambassador Zheng on assuming his duties in the UK and said that the 48 Group Club stands ready to work with China to make new contribution to the growth of China-UK relations.
